Palabras del Plata has arisen from a young and dynamic initiative in 2009 and is managed by a group of professional translators, proofreaders and localizers. Our mission is to offer our clients a wide range of linguistic tools that will enable an efficient performance and development of their activities.

Mariana Costa is a Scientific, Technical, and Literary Translator of English, graduated from the Escuela Normal Superior en Lenguas Vivas "Sofía E. B. de Spangenberg" in 2006, and a Sworn Translator of English, graduated from the Universidad de Belgrano in 2009. She completed a postgraduate degree in proofreading and editing at Fundación LITTERAE in 2011 and a Master’s Degree in Audiovisual Translation, Localization, Subtitling, and Dubbing offered by the University of Cádiz in collaboration with the Instituto Superior de Estudios Lingüísticos y de Traducción (ISTRAD). Since 2006, she has been working as a freelance translator specializing in subtitling, dubbing, medical translation, and legal translation. In the field of audiovisual translation, she collaborates with television production companies, film directors, and international festivals. She also works on the subtitling and dubbing of specialized conferences, institutional videos, and courses for universities, research centers, and companies. In the medical field, she works on the translation of manuals, research articles, and specialized books. She also translates leaflets and documents for the pharmaceutical industry and for companies importing medical devices. In legal translation, she collaborates with law firms and private clients, translating contracts, bylaws, court rulings, and other corporate and personal documents. Since 2011, she has delivered courses and workshops on audiovisual translation, and professional image and has participated as a speaker at conferences and seminars. Since 2017, she has taught the course Since 2018, she has been a member of the Organizing Committee of the Hispanic American Congress on Audiovisual Translation (HispaTAV), organized by Universitat Pompeu Fabra from Barcelona and the Spanish Society of Modern Languages (SELM) from Sevilla. Since 2020, she serves a full member of the Ethics Committee on Clinical Pharmacology at the Fundación CIDEA. She became a registered member of the Association of Sworn Translators of the City of Buenos Aires (CTPCBA) in 2009, where she served as Coordinator of the Committees of Early-Career Translators and Technical-Scientific Translation, and also as Secretary of the Committee of Audiovisual Translation. From April 2021 to November 2024, she was a member of the Board of Directors, holding the position of Secretary of Records and Enrollment until July 2021, and Treasurer until November 2024. During that period, she was responsible for the Committees of Early-Career Translators and Audiovisual Translation. She became a registered member of the Association of Sworn Translators and Interpreters of the Province of Buenos Aires (CTPIPBA) in 2024. |
